Tyrrell's Tipi Information

If you have never stepped inside a Tipi and discovered the beauty of this majestic structure, you should visit Avon Tyrrell to experience enjoyment of Tipi camping.   There is nothing like sleeping under the stars in a Tipi - it is a truly magical experience especially in our secluded Tipi area on our 65 acre estate.  When you enter a Tipi you really feel like you're stepping into another world.  Why not book some adventure activities on site or a swimming session in our heated outdoor pool?

Among the camp area, with its own fire and the sounds of birds seeing out another day, you really can forget the routine of modern life and look forward to waking up with nature.   For those of you who are early risers, you may see a range of animals in their natural environment including deer, rabbits, badgers, buzzards, geese and swans.  Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre is a safe site situated in 65 acres Grade II listed grounds in the New Forest National Park and offers something for everyone making, your stay in our Tipi's as varied as you would like it to be:

• Build your own shelter or discover a little more of your surroundings with any of our environmental activities?
• How about fishing in one of our two lakes where you will find as large as 25lb carp if you're lucky?
• You would have free use of our mountain bike tracks on site and if you choose to leave your bikes at home there is bike hire available upon request.
• You could also stop for breakfast at our Terrace Cafe and meander in our Souvenir shop whilst making your way to the top of our site where we have access to explore the wild and wonderful scenery of the New Forest National Park.
• The nearest village is only a five minute drive away and the nearest beaches are a mere 15 minutes drive away...

There is so much on offer and it's up to you what sort of Tipi holiday you choose.  We have three, 16ft Tipis in our Tipi camp which is set within the trees in a secluded area of the site and they can sleep a group of 15-18 people or 4-6 per tipi depending upon the child/adult ratio.  The tipis even have Red Indian Chief names; Rain in the Face, Red Cloud and Little Wolf.  Electricity and running water is available and an eco-loo is nearby, with the option of a shower and toilet block a short walk away.  There is a sheltered dining area offering a gas fired BBQ for all your cooking needs, unless you prefer our camp fire with a seated area giving you the chance to chatter or watch the stars.

There are camp beds available in our tipis, but pillows and sleeping bags are not provided.  However, we have a Wicker Basket which includes your basic kitchen utensils (and can include sleeping bags if you wish to hire them), which requires a refundable deposit of £40 -please see our what to bring list.
